Project description

We’re looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to build scalable, secure, cloud-native payment solutions used by merchants across North America. You’ll design and develop high-performance APIs, work on microservices architecture, and collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams.

Remote, full-time

Working Schedule: 12.30-21.00 Kyiv time

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications and microservices.
  • Build and enhance secure, scalable REST APIs.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production and development issues.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams.
  • Optimise application performance, reliability, and security.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge.

Requirements

Location: Ukraine

  • 7+ years of Java backend development experience.
  • Strong experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, API Gateway, VPC, ALB/NLB, SNS, WAF).
  • Experience building cloud-native microservices.
  • 4+ years designing and delivering high-throughput APIs.
  • Strong knowledge of REST, OpenAPI 3.x, API design, and security best practices.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Familiarity with React and TypeScript is an advantage.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps.
  • Agile development experience with strong communication skills.
  • English: Upper-Intermediate.
